چکیده

Abstract Hydrothermal veins and altered feldspar are evidence for fluid circulation in granitic rocks the continental crust. The hydrothermal alteration of affects deformation behavior granitoids, especially if it occurs before orogeny. Geochronology can establish timing to determine this fluid-driven plays a role crustal deformation. Although existing dating techniques cannot be applied directly, absolute ages obtained from veins. We combined U-Pb geochronology hydrogen isotope data (δD) epidote [Ca2Al2(Al,Fe3+) Si3O12(OH)] unravel hydration post-Variscan granitoids Alpine orogen. recent protocol proves first time that fluids meteoric origin infiltrated Permian times by exploiting synrift faults, consistent with δD values epidote-forming fluids. This event caused at least some degree weakening ~260 m.y. their pervasive structural overprint preservation despite orogenic processes confirms as powerful tool which unveil pre-orogenic events metagranitoids. Our analytical approach broadens insights into water cycle middle crust orogens.

Multi-step TIMS and CA-TIMS monazite U–Pb geochronology

Multi-step chemical abrasion thermal ionization mass spectrometry (CA-TIMS) methods were developed for monazite using six samples that vary in composition and age—Amelia, Jefferson County, Burke, Elk Mountain, 554 and Madagascar. To evaluate whether the multi-step CA-TIMS approach reveals complexities in either age or composition that might be masked by single-step analysis, this study presents...
